Stem cell therapy is evolving as an advanced therapeutic landscape in diabetes treatment in India. Stem cells derived from umbilical cord tissue or blood, adipose tissue, or bone marrow are multilineage. These cells can differentiate into distinct cell types based on specific stimulation. Researchers have widely explored the regenerative approach for the regeneration of the pancreatic beta islet cells responsible for insulin production. Mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) are widely used for stem cell treatment in diabetes management. The additional effects include supporting cellular communication, reducing inflammation, promoting repair mechanisms, immunomodulation, creating stronger signalling networks, and establishing a supportive environment.
In conventional diabetes management, the focus remains on controlling the blood sugar level. The common approach is medication, insulin therapy, dietary management, and physical activities.
