1). Flux control method: As speed is inversely proportional to flux, we can vary speed by varying flux, the flux can be varied by varying the current and the current can be varied by changing the resistance(rheostat) that is connected in series with the flux producing field winding.
2).Armature control method: Armature current is directly proportional to BackEmf so reducing the Armature current will reduce the speed of the motor. It can be achieved same by connecting a variable rheostat in series with Armature winding.
